“Preserving the Past, Valuing the Present, Enriching the Future”

DEAN
Dr. Adnan Bin Jamaludin, Associate Professor
Bachelor in Library Science (UiTM); MSc. in Information Resource Management (Syracuse); Ph.D. Strategic Information Management (USM).

Brief History
The Faculty of Information Management has been recognized as a pioneer in Malaysia in providing education and research spanning the fields of Information, Library, and Records Management since its inception in 1968. During its formative years, the Department of Library Science conducted a full time programme to prepare post-high school students for the professional qualification - Associate of Library Science (ALA-UK). The school later designed its own Malaysian curriculum, launched in 1972 - Diploma in Library Science for holders of Higher School Certificates, and Postgraduate Diploma in Library Science for university graduates.
In keeping up with national and international developments, the School has been conducting regular curriculum reviews resulting in the integration of information science components into the curriculum. Hence the change of the school's name to "School of Library and Information Science" in 1979. With the addition of Archival and Records Management under the big umbrella of”Information", the school's name was changed again to "Faculty of Information Studies" in 1997. The current name, "Faculty of Information Management" has been in use since 2005 as a result of UiTM's regrouping of various academic programmes and disciplines campus-wide.

Layu - Malique and Tun Dr Mahathir

sesungguhnya.......
tidak ada yang lebih menyayat
dari melihat bangsaku di jajah
tidak ada yang lebih menyedihkan
dari membiarkan bangsaku di hina

aku lihat layu dalam melayu
aku pasti bukan aku sorang saja yang nampak
ada juga bercadang bertanya tuan punya
tapi bercampur risau dengan tidak tergamak
nanti dikata tidak bersyukur tidak sedar diri
jadi aku menyendiri
memerhati...
dan akhirnya mengakui...
yang kita sendiri...
membiarkan bunga raya me layu ke kanan
dan di biar bunga tak cantik mekar di kiri

aku lihat layu dalam melayu
tanah air kita yang punya kita siram kita baja
tapi angin api kita lupa....
mereka merancang masa menjilat bangsa
13 harimau bertukar menjadi mangsa
kita lupa....
nenek moyang kaya raya
jangan sekali-kali di gadai harta bendanya

ku lihat layu dalam melayu (3x)
tak kan melayu hilang di dunia
ya...
tapi apa guna tak hilang di duina kalau kewujudan tidak di rasa
petah berbahasa kudrat tak berjasa
orang berbudi kita hanya tahu merasa
selalu lari bila dirapat
selalu malu bila soalan di aju
selalu segan memberi pendapat
rela mengikut dari meneraju
belum menyanyi sudah bersorak
suka berjanji dalam borak
bukan kata takde otak
cuma tak berfikir di luar kotak

ku lihat layu dalam melayu (3x)
aku jadi sayu
bunga menangis dia mendayu
mahu jadi cantik tapi ragu
aku merayu....
bangunlah semula hidup kembali
jangan tunggu matahari mati
cepatlah mekar sebelum terlerai
perjuangan kita belum selesai (3x)

perjuangan kita belum selesai
kerana hanya yang kekal dan tabah
dapat membina mercu tanda
bangsanya yang berjaya..
