Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez has revealed that it is unlikely that striker Fernando Torres will be back in first-team action for the Reds next week.

It had been reported that the forward could make his comeback from a knee injury sustained against Reading last month against Manchester City next weekend but Benitez has ruled that out on Friday.

"I think it will be too early," the Liverpool manager told his club's official website. "He is training with the physios and the fitness coach, but he's still not involved with the team. We will see next week how he progresses."
Centre-back Jamie Carragher though could return to first-team duties against the Citizens.
The veteran defender sustained an abductor injury in the midweek defeat at Arsenal and is not expected to feature in the Europa League tie agianst Unirea Urziceni on Thursday.
He could play at Eastlands, however, and his presence will be a welcome boost with Sotirios Kyrgiakos suspended for two games and Glen Johnson injured.
"I am not sure if he will be available for Thursday against Unirea, but maybe he will have a chance against City," Benitez confirmed.
